Here's the one's I know about that shoot 7.62x25mm :
CZ-52 (pistol) and the PPS-43 (carbine & pistol) WHY ? ......because it's cheap, cheap ammo that's HOT (10-11 cents per rnd) Please list others in the family on this thread. |
Re: 7.62x25mm - Gun Listing - what shoots it ?
The Tokarev TT-33 and its many copies mainly chamber the 7.62 x 25 with some variants chambering the 9mm Para

I would usually say J&G sales but they are out of them, you can find them on gunbroker.net but they are overpriced. Look in Shotgun News and you'll find places that sell them but you'll have to have it shipped to an FFL holder
IMO - it looks like a cross between the Colt 1903 and the Colt 1908 http://san1.atlanta.gbhinc.com/GB/09...x787630062.jpg |
Re: 7.62x25mm - Gun Listing - what shoots it ?
PPSh41 - Russian full auto, now being produced in semi auto by MGS - $800
PPS43 - Russian full auto, now being produced in semi auto by MGS - $700 (pistol) PPS43 - Russian full auto, now being produced in semi auto by MGS - $750 (carbine) PLUS they also have a limited supply of CZ52's - $170 IT SHOULD BE NOTED that MGS has been having 'issues' with the bolt assembly of the PPS43's. Several have been returned to be fixed. At least MGS gives you a 'lifetime warranty' for this conversion. |

Is anyone still actively making this ammo and using it? Are there any modern pistols that use it?

No. But there are TONS of surplus ammo. And it's DIRT CHEAP, all things being equal. Like about 10 cents a round, or less. Sellier & Belloit is making it new. I think there are a couple other manufacturers as well, but I can't remember them. Lone Wolf Distributing was considering making a conversion for the Glock. But the problem is the round is TOO LONG to fit any currently made Glock mag wells. If you find a current, double stack, hi-cap magazine pistol using 7.62x25, let me know. I'd buy two or four of them. |
Re: 7.62x25mm - Gun Listing - what shoots it ?
So I was researching this today. Apparently, it seems as though only those two guns (cz52 and tokarev) are the only two pistols that shoot it.
I found a whole forum dedicated to the cz52 (czech pistols but mainly this one): http://www.surplusrifleforum.com/viewforum.php?f=65 They say that this website is selling them for $119 here: http://www.southernohiogun.com/hand.htm although I can't verify it myself because you need some type of license to see the price. I think the guns are also getting harder to find. They seem to be going for about $200 as opposed to $100 a few years ago. Here is another website that sells them: http://www.smsguns.com/crpistols.htm I also found another "pistol" that fires this cartridge....some kind of crazy automatic chinese gun. http://world.guns.ru/handguns/hg153-e.htm http://world.guns.ru/handguns/type80-1.jpg So anyway, I'm thinking about getting the cz52....could someone give me some advice if I should or not? I basically don't know anything about guns, although I recently got a glock 17. Also have a couple long guns. Recently got those too. I'm thinking that since the ammo is cheap it would be good to practice with. Also, these bullets have good penetration, and can actually go through some body armor. I know I'll probably want to get some other guns in more common bullet sizes, but it seems pretty cheap and since there aren't many weapons that use this bullet the price will probably rise slower. My question is how easy is it to buy these bullets? Do gun stores carry them, or would I have to buy online? |
Re: 7.62x25mm - Gun Listing - what shoots it ?
The CZ52 is an excellent pistol. A few years back you could get one for 79.00 or so but now days they are around 200.
The ammo is in almost every gun store. I like the military style ammo since it is often cheaper and it is also steel core. Use caution since some of the ammo for these are corrosive, so a good cleaning after every shoot is always a good idea. |

I have three CZ-52s & like them.Getting extra original magazines might be a little tough,I understand that the after market ones do not work well.

Re: 7.62x25mm - Gun Listing - what shoots it ?
I cannot believe I FORGOT this, but the BROOMHANDLE MAUSER WILL SHOOT the 7.62x25. It's actual round is 7.62x26, but it will chamber and shoot the other ammo.
I'm not sure if I would 'trust' the 'hotter' 7.62x25 stuff in a turn of the century Broomhandle Mauser, because it might blow the gun up. Which would be a waste of a really nice weapon. Having said that, the Germans are extremely precise in their manufacture of fireams. ALWAYS HAVE BEEN. I have four spare magazine for each one of my CZ 52's. The factory originals are still out there, but you MUST ASK the seller before you purchase. DO NOT BUY AN AFTERMARKET ONE. They are literally crap and will require modifications to the body to even function AT ALL. Go ahead. ASK ME HOW I KNOW THIS. I also have the 'amorers' kit that was issued for the CZ 52. I got it several years ago when I got my pistols. Enough springs, firing pins, screws, pins etc for ten guns. Even a spare barrel, a spare set of grips and a spare magazine. All in a nice neat wooden case painted OD green. Gotta love those Czech's. They do know how to make a nice pistol. |
